FMF: Jump

Hey Hey Hey!

Time for Five Minute Friday. I am linking up with Lisa Jo Baker. Today our word is Jump.

GO!

"Might as JUMP!"

Jump in with both feet, hands tied behind back, oh and don't forget rock tied to feet. Or...is that Aladdin??

I am not sure. Either way I am standing on the Cliff of My Life, not sure which way to turn next. Do I turn and run away, back to safety, back to the lonely well-known? Or do I jump into the raging blue and hope for the best?

The feeling of failure and embarrassment are out there in the raging blue unknown. If I go, I WILL be the dorky girl hiding in the back, quiet, silent, alone, counting the hours until I am free to run home to safety, skipping the next day entirely.

But what if......what if I do go? What if I actually talk to someone? I might meet someone as dorky and lonely as me.

Sigh.

Whether I jump or not, I do not know. One thing I do know: every time I jump I will fall flat on my face the next cliff down. Only when I jump in tandem with GOD will I be at peace. So here I am praying, wondering, praying, biting nails, praying........maybe they will see me, maybe not....

  1. I just wrote a long comment and lost it. Whompwhomp. It was something like:

I am so glad you were the link right before me, so I had to visit your post! Also, I am so happy that you quoted both 80's music and Aladdin. Well done. =)

It is so, so scary to be out on that cliff - no matter what the cliff is. And to jump? Uffda. I'm glad you decided to put yourself out there online, so I could meet you. Bravo.

  5. Nice!!! I loved this: "...back to the lonely well-known?" so good!! Sometimes the 'well known' doesn't really bring the comfort we expect!

    1. What we know can totally suck (excuse the language), but it is what we know so we stick with it anyways. Creatures of habit for sure!

  6. Jumping with God is the best thing we can do! It's hard and scary and we never know where we're going to land, but it's worth it, worth every second.

  7. Thank you for putting Van Halen in my head before 8:30 AM, that will get me moving. I'm guessing you are going to Jumping Tandem - or thinking about next time. Either way, thanks for this and for following through with Fluffachu. :)

  10. I can tell you all about how scary it is for me to jump and give you every good reason why I shouldn't. It's crazy that God and His love can convince me away from my default of shying away to jumping.

  12. Hi,Alyssa! I enjoyed your post. Reading the comments,I realized I need to go look up Van Halen's song. I'm sad to say it doesn't ring a bell. I can now say I've learned something new from Five Minute Friday.

  14. It is SO scary to feel a little different, a little out of sync. But sometimes your jumps inspire others. Good post!
